Balderdash Rally — Jersey to Paris 2014

Avranches to St Malo - then Jersey

Hello all, this will be the last update from us until the next trip, so your lives can return to normal in just a few minutes time!

After a breakfast fit for Kings...

(Kings that remained hungry....)

...we packed our bags and said goodbye to our last hotel of this years trip...

We headed to the roads for a misty start to the final leg of the trip...

...enjoying the quiet roads..

Amusing ourselves as we drove...

 

 

 

 

And eventually, started to see familiar signs..

 

As is customary on French trips, we had an important stop to make before heading to the harbour...

 

And before long, I was back doing what I love most. (thats what the neighbours think anyway. Truth is, I hate washing cars. I just like the end result!)

 

After a look around the hyper market followed by a coffee, we made our way back to the car for the final push...

 

 

We were soon at the Port...

 

And after a small bit of confusion where it transpired we only had a booking for one car and a driver, (don't worry, we managed to get Mike a seat on-board after money exchanged hands at the check-in desk), we were driving down the ramp ready to board the ferry home..

 

With the car safely tucked up on-board an almost empty boat...

 

We headed upstairs and made ourselves comfortable for the short journey back to Jersey.

After Mike made one final inspection outside...

 

 

....he gave the Captain the all clear (telling him to look out for the other boat), and we set sail..

 

An hour and 20 minutes later, we were pulling into Jersey Harbour and soon back on dry land, remembering to drive on the left.

And so draws to an end another 'rally' - 625 miles of beautiful French roads and countryside, some great hotels, taxing clues, and good company! Shorter than previous trips, but no less enjoyable!

Thanks of course to Chip and Heidi for organizing another excellent trip...

...and to Phil, for not only being good enough to go to the lengths of getting married soon just so he could have a stag do, but also for inviting us along!
